Primitive War is set to roar into Australian cinemas on August 21, Directed by Luke Sparke and adapted from the 2017 novel by Ethan Pettus, the film takes audiences deep into the jungles of Vietnam during 1968 where a rescue mission quickly becomes a fight for survival.
The story follows Vulture Squad, a recon unit sent to recover a missing Green Beret platoon. What they uncover is more terrifying than anything they could have imagined. A secret Soviet experiment has gone horribly wrong, unleashing de-extincted dinosaurs into the dense jungle. Surrounded by prehistoric predators, the soldiers must use every skill they have just to make it out alive.
Bringing the chaos to the screen are Ryan Kwanten, Tricia Helfer, Nick Wechsler and Jeremy Piven, leading a cast that blends Hollywood talent with Australian production flair. Filmed on the Gold Coast in Queensland, the movie embraces gritty war drama while delivering full-scale creature horror.
Director Luke Sparke has described the adaptation as a chance to merge the raw intensity of war cinema with the spectacle of dinosaurs, saying his vision was to make it feel as if the characters had stepped straight out of Platoon and into the jaws of the greatest predators to ever walk the Earth.
First look images and the official poster have already teased fans with a glimpse of the carnage to come. With its combination of military tension, survival horror and prehistoric action, Primitive War is shaping up to be one of the most daring Australian genre films in recent years.
Brace yourself for an explosive ride when Primitive War stomps into cinemas across Australia on August 21.
