HBO renews five original series, including two ‘Game of Thrones’ franchise series

During Thursday’s press presentation in New York City, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and HBO Max Content, officially announced the renewal of HBO’s two Game of Thrones franchise series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon, extending each series run through 2028. 

It was also announced that acclaimed HBO Original comedy series The Chair Company and I Love LA have been renewed for second seasons. 

The HBO Original drama series Task, starring Emmy® winner Mark Ruffalo, has been renewed for a second season. From creator Brad Ingelsby (Mare of Easttown), HBO’s Taskhas received wide acclaim for its gripping writing and directing and outstanding performances from its ensemble cast.

The third season of the HBO Original drama series House of the Dragon will debut in winter 2026. Ahead of its return, HBO has renewed the series for a fourth season, debuting in 2028.

HBO Original drama series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms debuts Monday 19 January, only on HBO Max. The second season will debut in 2027. 

HBO Original drama series House of the Dragon will debut in winter 2026. The fourth season will debut in 2028.
