28 Years Later: The Bone Temple – Jan 15

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple pushes the iconic Rage Virus saga into darker and more ambitious territory, marking the fourth chapter in the acclaimed film series. Directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Alex Garland, the film was shot back to back with its predecessor and continues the haunting aftermath of a Britain shattered by infection. Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, Erin Kellyman and Chi Lewis Parry lead the cast.

Set after the events of the previous film, Spike is inducted into Sir Jimmy Crystal’s gang of acrobatic killers in a post apocalyptic Britain ravaged by the Rage Virus. Meanwhile, Dr Ian Kelson forms a new relationship with potentially world changing consequences.

DaCosta brings a distinct vision to the franchise, choosing not to mirror Danny Boyle’s style, instead delivering a personal and atmospheric take on the series, with more infected and bolder horror elements woven throughout.

Jack O’Connell, fresh from Sinners, is already being tipped for villain performance of the year for a second consecutive year. Early screenings have also praised Ralph Fiennes, who has a much larger role this time and reportedly delivers an even stronger performance than before.

Alex Garland’s script has drawn significant acclaim, particularly for a bold third act that sparked an overwhelmingly positive reaction. One insider teased a final act sequence destined to be talked about well into 2026, while another remarked that although the first film was outstanding, this surpasses it. These reactions suggest something genuinely impressive is on the way. And with a third instalment already greenlit before release, Sony’s confidence could not be clearer, The Bone Temple is set to get your attention and leave you begging for more.

The Bone Temple is already built and ready to explore as we enter the new year. Heat up the popcorn, prepare yourself and experience it on the big screen.
