In this month’s Movieland Spotlight, we sat down with actor and filmmaker Scott Martin to talk about his explosive new action thriller Exit Protocol, starring alongside action legends Dolph Lundgren and Michael Jai White. From intense fight choreography to classic western inspirations, Martin opened up about his journey into filmmaking and what audiences can expect from the adrenaline-fuelled ride.
Martin revealed that his passion for storytelling began unexpectedly while studying economics in college. After taking a film elective and watching Unforgiven, he knew he wanted to pursue cinema. With little money to spare, he spent hours in bookstores reading screenwriting books before eventually packing his bags and heading to Los Angeles to chase the dream.
When discussing Exit Protocol, Martin described being instantly drawn to the morally complex lead character, he also praised the film’s practical stunt work, explaining that the production intentionally avoided excessive visual effects to create more grounded and visceral action scenes. Working with Dolph Lundgren and Michael Jai White proved to be one of the highlights of the experience. Martin described Lundgren as a commanding yet highly collaborative presence on set, while White immediately put everyone at ease despite his intimidating martial arts reputation.

Outside the action, Martin shared his deep love for classic westerns including Tombstone, Silverado and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, while also naming The Empire Strikes Back and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade among his all-time favourites.
Martin also spoke passionately about the importance of delivering pure entertainment to audiences. For him, Exit Protocol is designed to give viewers an escape from everyday life, packed with hard-hitting action, memorable characters that recalls the classic action films of the past.
With its blend of explosive action and powerhouse performances, Exit Protocol delivers exactly what action fans want. For Scott Martin, that dedication to authentic cinema storytelling remains at the heart of everything he creates.
