Exclusive: Chantel & Wyatt Take on The Block

From surviving the pressure cooker to creating their dream home, Chantel and Wyatt open up about life on The Block, their relationship, unforgettable moments and what comes next after the competition.

For Chantel and Wyatt, stepping onto The Block was the culmination of a dream years in the making. But even with Chantel’s background in carpentry and Wyatt’s experience in personal training and the military, nothing could fully prepare them for the pressure cooker waiting on the other side of those famous gates.

Chantel had wanted to compete on The Block for close to a decade, originally imagining she might tackle the challenge alongside her sister. Instead, Wyatt became her teammate, and the couple quickly discovered just how intense the experience would be.

“There’s no preparing for The Block. I don’t care how qualified you are.” – Wyatt

For Wyatt, the learning curve was particularly steep. Coming into the competition without Chantel’s building experience meant almost everything was new.

“The first week, I had no idea what anything was. Zero clue,” he admits. “Someone was talking about ceiling battens. I didn’t even know what a ceiling batten was!”

Chantel may have spent seven years working on site alongside her dad, but even she found herself overwhelmed.

“Having a trade background helped me immensely, but The Block is a whole different beast. Even for me, I still struggled on day one. It’s such a pressure cooker.”

Despite the chaos, the pair developed a clear vision for their Mount Eliza property. Rather than researching the area extensively or chasing trends, Chantel wanted their house to feel personal, creating the kind of home they would genuinely want to live in.

“I went into The Block wanting to do it intuitively and put things into the house that I would love in my own dream home.”

“We completely made our dream home. We’re so proud of how it came together.” – Chantel

Living together away from the construction site added another unusual element to the 2026 season. While the shared accommodation gave contestants the luxury of a proper bed and shower every night, it also made escaping The Block almost impossible. Evenings often became long conversations between contestants about everything that had happened that day instead of planning what came next.

The experience also revealed something unexpected about Chantel and Wyatt’s relationship. At home, Wyatt is normally the calm presence when family life becomes overwhelming. On The Block, those roles reversed.

“I used to think Wyatt was the one who kept me really calm,” Chantel says. “Then we went on The Block and I realised I was actually the one keeping Wyatt calm.”

Looking ahead to what viewers are yet to see, Chantel nominates their master bedroom suite as her favourite part of the finished house, while Wyatt is particularly proud of their side courtyard. If they could relocate the entire property to the Gold Coast, they admit they would happily move straight in.

Away from renovations, Wyatt is also beginning to explore another career in front of the camera. After taking extra and stand-in work, he landed a featured security guard role in the upcoming Bear Country, appearing in a scene alongside Russell Crowe.

“Hopefully now that we’ve got through The Block, I can get back into auditioning for more roles.” – Wyatt

Ultimately, the couple hope audiences see beyond the competition and remember them for who they are.

“I hope people think we’re genuine, down-to-earth people,” Wyatt says. “I hope they’re entertained by some of the silly things we do along the way.”

And when the renovations are finally over and it’s time for a trip to the cinema? Their candy bar order is already sorted: popcorn, Maltesers mixed together and a Frozen Coke.

Chantel and Wyatt’s Block journey is far from over, with plenty more room reveals, challenges and surprises still to come as the competition heads towards the finish line. Whatever happens, the pair have certainly made their mark, bringing plenty of laughs, personality and determination to one of Australia’s biggest reality television competitions.
