Disney has pulled back the curtain on its future, with D23 2026 delivering a massive collection of announcements, casting reveals, trailers and first looks spanning Marvel Studios, Pixar, Walt Disney Animation, Lucasfilm and more.
From the official unveiling of Marvel’s new X-Men to fresh Avengers: Doomsday footage, Star Wars Starfighter, Frozen 3 and the live-action Tangled, there was certainly no shortage of surprises.
Here are some of the biggest reveals from D23 2026.

MARVEL UNVEILS ITS NEW X-MEN
After years of speculation surrounding how the mutants would properly enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios finally introduced the principal cast of its upcoming X-Men reboot.
Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey, alongside Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost.
Perhaps the biggest surprise was the confirmation of Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, giving the new generation of mutants one of the comics’ most recognisable villains to face.
The film will be directed by Thunderbolts* filmmaker Jake Schreier and is currently set to arrive in cinemas on May 5, 2028.

AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY BRINGS DOCTOR DOOM TO D23
Marvel wasn’t finished there.
D23 attendees were treated to new footage from the hugely anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, with Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell appearing during the presentation.
The footage offered another taste of Downey Jr.’s transformation from MCU hero Tony Stark to Victor von Doom, while also teasing the enormous collision of characters coming in the next Avengers adventure. One of the major moments shown involved Doctor Doom confronting Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, while other heroes including Thor and Loki also appeared.
With the Avengers, Fantastic Four and characters from the original X-Men films all involved, Doomsday is shaping up to be one of Marvel Studios’ biggest crossover events yet.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit cinemas in December 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.

STAR WARS: STARFIGHTER TAKES FLIGHT
Lucasfilm brought a galaxy far, far away back to D23 with the first footage from Star Wars: Starfighter.
The upcoming standalone adventure stars Ryan Gosling and is set to explore another corner of the Star Wars universe rather than simply revisiting the Skywalker Saga.
The D23 presentation provided fans with their first substantial taste of the film ahead of its planned 2027 cinema release.

BLUEY HEADS TO THE BIG SCREEN
Australia’s favourite Blue Heeler is making the leap from television to cinemas, and D23 delivered a new look at The Bluey Movie. The feature-length adventure will bring Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Chilli to the big screen, expanding the enormously successful animated series into its first cinema movie.
For Australian audiences in particular, seeing Bluey make the jump to a full theatrical adventure could make this one of Disney’s most anticipated family releases.
DISNEY’S FUTURE IS PACKED
D23 has always been Disney’s opportunity to show fans what is coming next, but the 2026 showcase made one thing particularly clear: the next few years are going to be packed.
Marvel is finally ready to unleash its new generation of X-Men, Avengers: Doomsday is preparing to bring some of the biggest corners of the MCU together, Pixar is returning to Coco and The Incredibles, and Disney continues to mine its animated catalogue with projects including Frozen 3 and the live-action Tangled.
Add Star Wars: Starfighter, The Bluey Movie, Zootopia 3 and plenty more still to come, and Disney has given fans a very big look at what awaits on the big and small screens.
