Ana de Armas stars as a deadly assassin seeking revenge in the action-packed Ballerina, set in the John Wick universe. Explosive fights, bold twists — in cinemas June 5.
Set between the explosive events of John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, BALLERINA introduces a fierce new contender to the assassin-filled world: Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas), a ballerina-turned-lethal-avenger trained by the Ruska Roma. After the murder of her father, Eve embarks on a high-octane quest for revenge, uncovering dark secrets about her family — and herself.
Eve’s journey is equal parts brutal and balletic, as she challenges the rules of a male-dominated underworld with vengeance on her own terms. Along the way, she encounters familiar faces including The Director (Anjelica Huston), Winston (Ian McShane), and Charon (Lance Reddick), while new threats arise in the form of Daniel Pine (Norman Reedus) and the ominous Chancellor (Gabriel Byrne).
Directed by Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard), BALLERINA amps up the franchise’s signature style with never-before-seen action sequences, international locations, and inventive weapons — think katana duels on ice skates and flamethrower fights in snowbound villages. Producer Chad Stahelski and screenwriter Shay Hatten envisioned Eve not just as a new hero, but as a counterpoint to Wick himself. While John wants out, Eve wants in. As Stahelski puts it, “She chooses this life.”
With BALLERINA, the John Wick universe expands — literally and thematically. Eve may fight her way through assassin-infested Hallstatt and defy the Ruska Roma’s orders, but she does it with a voice and vision all her own.
And as for what’s next? Ana and Keanu may face off in Ballerina, but it may not be over a dispute for free pizza.
