Bring Her Back is the highly anticipated new horror film from Australian filmmaking duo Danny and Michael Philippou, best known for their breakout supernatural hit Talk to Me. Scheduled for cinema release in Australia on 29 May 2025, this standalone horror experience promises to deliver another unsettling and emotionally charged journey into the unknown.
Written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman, and produced by Causeway Films and RackaRacka—in association with Salmira Productions and the South Australian Film Corporation—Bring Her Back brings together a stellar cast, including Sally Hawkins (Paddington, The Shape of Water) and rising star Billy Barratt (Invasion).
Set in the eerie aftermath of a family tragedy, the film follows a brother and sister coping with the death of their father. When they are introduced to a new sibling by their foster mother, their grief soon turns to dread as they uncover a terrifying secret that threatens their sanity—and their lives.
While fans of Talk to Me might draw comparisons, the Philippous have clarified that Bring Her Back is not a sequel, but an entirely separate story. A sequel to Talk to Me is currently in development, but stands apart from this new nightmare.
Shot over 41 days beginning in June 2024, Bring Her Back was filmed entirely in South Australia, with locations including Adelaide and Lightsview. The Philippou brothers, originally from Adelaide and known online as RackaRacka, have a history of fusing raw horror with emotional storytelling—and Bring Her Back looks to continue that tradition.
With a haunting premise and acclaimed filmmakers at the helm, Bring Her Back is shaping up to be one of 2025’s must-see horror films.
