Task, the gripping new HBO Original drama series from acclaimed creator Brad Ingelsby (Mare of Easttown), makes its debut on Monday, 8 September, exclusively on HBO Max. The seven-episode series will release new instalments weekly on subsequent Mondays.
Set in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, the story follows an FBI agent, played by Mark Ruffalo, as he leads a specialised task force determined to stop a wave of violent robberies. His investigation takes a surprising turn when the prime suspect emerges as an ordinary family man, portrayed by Tom Pelphrey, whose double life threatens to unravel everything around him.
The ensemble cast also includes Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Raúl Castillo, Silvia Dionicio, Phoebe Fox, and Martha Plimpton. With Ingelsby at the helm, alongside directors Jeremiah Zagar and Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Task promises a tense, character-driven exploration of loyalty, morality, and the cost of justice.
