The magic continues to grow as HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter television series welcomes nine new cast members, deepening the world of Hogwarts and beyond in what promises to be a faithful, multi-season adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved book series.
Leading the latest casting news is Katherine Parkinson, who will portray the warm and fiercely protective Molly Weasley, matriarch of the Weasley family. The Malfoy family also takes shape, with Lox Pratt cast as young Draco Malfoy and Johnny Flynn stepping into the role of his imposing father, Lucius Malfoy.
Several Hogwarts students have also been cast, bringing more of Harry’s peers to life. Leo Earley joins as the fiery Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as the bright and loyal Parvati Patil, and Sienna Moosah as the spirited Lavender Brown.
Outside the wizarding world, the Dursleys—Harry’s cruel Muggle relatives—have been cast with Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley and Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley. Rounding out the new additions is Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, the often bumbling Minister for Magic.
The series is being developed as a faithful adaptation of Rowling’s original novels, and each season will delve deeply into one book, offering a richer exploration of the stories, characters, and magical lore. It will stream exclusively on HBO Max, including in upcoming launch markets such as Germany, Italy, and the UK. The original Warner Bros. films will remain available globally for those who want to revisit the cinematic versions.
Behind the scenes, the series boasts a high-caliber creative team. Francesca Gardiner serves as writer and executive producer, with Mark Mylod (known for Succession) executive producing and directing multiple episodes. J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts executive produce via Brontë Film and TV, alongside David Heyman of Heyday Films, the original producer behind the Harry Potter movie franchise.
As the magical cast continues to expand, anticipation builds for this new chapter in the Wizarding World. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a first-time visitor to Hogwarts, the Harry Potter series on HBO Max aims to cast a spell on a whole new generation.
