Brad Pitt is heading deep into the wilderness for one of his most intense roles yet, leading the upcoming survival thriller Heart of the Beast, arriving in Australian cinemas September 24.
Directed by David Ayer, Heart of the Beast reunites Pitt with the filmmaker behind the acclaimed 2014 war drama Fury. This time, the battlefield is very different, trading tanks and enemy soldiers for the vast and unforgiving Alaskan wilderness.
THE HEART OF THE STORY
After a harrowing plane crash, Special Forces officer James Belmont (Brad Pitt) and his combat dog, Odin, find themselves stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Together, they are forced into a brutal fight for survival against the elements.
Heart of the Beast is an intense adventure thriller that explores the unbreakable bond between a man and his best friend as they face their greatest battle yet.
While the film promises plenty of danger, Heart of the Beast appears equally focused on the relationship between its two survivors. Ayer has described the story as something of a love story between a soldier and his dog, giving Pitt an opportunity to explore a more vulnerable character beneath the hardened military exterior.
THE STAR OF THE SHOW
Sharing the screen with Pitt is canine performer Uber, a trained rescue dog portraying Odin. Their connection became an important part of the production, with Pitt referring to his four-legged co-star as the real star of the film. It is a partnership that could ultimately provide Heart of the Beast with its biggest emotional punch.
The film also stars Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe, with Cameron Alexander behind the screenplay. Pitt additionally serves as a producer alongside Olivia Hamilton, Marty Bowen and David Ayer. Filming took place across New Zealand, where remote landscapes were transformed into the brutal Alaskan setting.
Following the enormous success of F1, Pitt is once again taking audiences on an adrenaline-fuelled ride, although Heart of the Beast promises something considerably more intimate.
