Kids Castle Review: The Cat In The Hat (2003)

The Cat in the Hat (2003) is a live-action comedy film directed by Bo Welch, based on the classic Dr. Seuss children’s book of the same name. The film stars Mike Myers as the mischievous, larger-than-life Cat who turns the lives of two bored children, Sally (Dakota Fanning) and Conrad (Spencer Breslin), upside down. When their parents are away, the Cat shows up uninvited and brings chaos, fun, and a bit of mayhem to their home.

The plot revolves around the Cat’s wild antics, which involve creating havoc in the house while trying to help the kids overcome their dull, rule-bound lives. Along with his zany companions, Thing 1 and Thing 2, the Cat introduces a world of mischief, but also some life lessons about responsibility, imagination, and the importance of fun. While the film draws on the spirit of the beloved Dr. Seuss book, it takes a more playful and adult-oriented comedic approach, with plenty of slapstick humor and eccentric moments.

Review submission by Elle (9) from Adelaide: I really like the fish. I’ve been watching this movie since I was 3. I think it’s really funny. I like when the cat dances and when he destroys everything. I like the cupcakes he makes out of anything.
