More than 30 years after The Sandlot became one of cinema’s most cherished family sports films, many of its original stars are finally reuniting for an all-new comedy series.
Premiering on YouTube on August 26, Dugout Dads brings together a large portion of the beloved 1993 cast in what marks the first official reunion of many of the film’s original actors. Created by Patrick Renna, forever remembered as Hamilton “Ham” Porter, alongside Kyle Howard, the series is produced through Hambino Media and celebrates the enduring legacy of a film that has remained a favourite for generations.
For countless fans, The Sandlot was far more than a baseball movie. It perfectly captured the magic of childhood, unforgettable friendships and endless summer afternoons, creating iconic moments and quotes that have stood the test of time. More than three decades later, that same spirit returns with a fresh story centred on family, parenting and youth sport.
Renna stars as a well-meaning father who volunteers to coach his children’s Little League baseball team, quickly discovering that managing the parents can be just as challenging as coaching the kids. Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel co-stars as his wife, while familiar Sandlot faces including Tom Guiry, Chauncey Leopardi, Marty York, Brandon Quintin Adams, Victor DiMattia, Shane Obedzinski, Grant Gelt and Will Horneff all appear throughout the series.
Although Dugout Dads tells a completely original story, the reunion of so many cast members is certain to delight fans who have waited decades to see the team share the screen once again. Combining nostalgic callbacks with a modern family comedy, the series looks set to deliver plenty of laughs while celebrating one of the most beloved baseball films ever made.
