Directed by Dave Green and starring John Cena, Will Forte and Lana Condor, COYOTE VS ACME is a smart, high-concept blend of live-action and animation charging into cinemas across Australia on September 17 through Pinnacle Films.
Reimagining one of cartoon history’s most iconic underdogs, the film drops Wile E. Coyote into a high-stakes courtroom battle as chaotic and unpredictable as his endless pursuit of the Road Runner. After years of ACME’s notoriously faulty gadgets exploding in his face, Wile E. finally fights back, hiring down-on-his-luck lawyer Kevin Avery (Will Forte), who sees the case as his one shot at redemption.
But the case quickly turns personal when Kevin comes up against his formidable former boss, powerhouse attorney Buddy Crane (John Cena), now representing ACME. What follows is a fast-paced collision of escalating rivalry, uneasy alliances and inventive, gag-driven mayhem, showcasing Looney Tunes at its best.
Completed in 2023, COYOTE VS ACME was controversially shelved by Warner Bros. as part of a tax write-off strategy, despite exceptional audience test scores. The decision sparked global backlash, with fans and filmmakers rallying behind the film and demanding its release.
That groundswell paid off. In 2025, Ketchup Entertainment acquired worldwide rights, igniting a wave of online celebration and renewed buzz. Now, following today’s global trailer debut and ahead of a US release on August 28 across more than 3,000 screens, COYOTE VS ACME has firmly reclaimed its place in the spotlight.
