The story centers on twin brothers, both played by Jordan, who return to their hometown in an effort to escape the sins of their past. But instead of finding peace, they uncover a greater and more insidious evil that has been lying in wait—an evil that forces them to confront their darkest fears, fractured identity, and shared trauma.
“You keep dancing with the devil, one day he’s gonna follow you home,” —a chilling indication of the film’s haunting tone and thematic depth.
Written and directed by Coogler, Sinners marks a creative evolution for the filmmaker, venturing deeper into horror territory while retaining his trademark emotional intensity and socio-political subtext. Shot on IMAX’s proprietary 15/65mm cameras, the film is meticulously designed for an immersive, large-format experience, where every frame heightens the tension and psychological unease.
Coogler brings back much of his trusted creative team from Black Panther, including director of photography Autumn Durald Arkapaw, Oscar-winning production designer Hannah Beachler, editor Michael P. Shawver, Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter, and composer Ludwig Göransson—whose score promises to echo and elevate the film’s chilling atmosphere.
Jordan is joined by an impressive ensemble cast that includes Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and legendary actor Delroy Lindo. Produced by Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and Ryan Coogler under the Proximity Media banner, Sinners is executive produced by Göransson, Will Greenfield, and Rebecca Cho—ensuring a top-tier production at every level.
